The men of THE FILIPINO POP TENORS are professional singers of varying expertise, engaged in musical theatre as well as mainstream pop.

MIGUEL CASTRO

 

After doing non-musical plays for more than 15 years, Miguel Castro appeared two of the most memorable original Filipino musicals in 2005 – Saint Louis Loves Dem Filipinos as lead for Dulaang UP, and Filipinas Circa for the Cultural Center of the Philippines. He ventured into Mainstream singing, releasing his first album, “Miguel Castro Sings”, together with the soundtrack of Saint Louis Musical, and a Christmas Album. He also joined Aawitan Kita doing monthly live concerts under Armida Siquion Reyna. In 2006, and has been a regular til the present, recently came back from a US and Australian concert tour. He also joined Philippine Opera Company’s Harana and has been doing local shows, national and international tours. He also joined the recording of ARTS in the CITY Recital Album with other notable classical singers in 2010. Just recently, he was part of La Salle University’s Centennial Show; a cantata entitled “Fire In the Soul”, and also recorded for its soundtrack. Miguel is also a visual artist, exhibiting his works here and abroad.

SERAFIN MURILLO

 

Serafin started singing in highschool as lead vocalist of Kundirana and performed in major concerts around the Philippines and the USA for two years. He went to UP College of Music afterwards for his Bachelor in Music, Major in Composition. While training classical singing with Prof. Jai Aracama and performing in several operettas, he also sang pop, soul, and r&b with various showbands in many music bars in the metro. He explored musical theater performance too with Repertory Philippines. Doing these as a working student, he began working as a music arranger, music director, music producer and composer for theater, tv, and two major record labels. He penned one of Sarah Geronimo’s biggest hits “Sa Iyo”, and won an Awit Award for Best Dance Recording. He was a finalist in the Levi Celerio Songwriting Competition, with Mark Bautista interpreting “Baliw”. His song “Hanggang Sa Muli” was Carol Banawa’s 3rd single from her “Transitions” album  and was featured several times in the ABS-CBN teleserye “Bituin”. He garnered a Luna Award nomination for his song recorded by the Loboc Children’s Choir for a Cesar Montano film. As music director for theater, he has worked with Cocoy Laurel, Ogie Alcasid, Ivy Violan, and Marco Sison. He composed and arranged music for an original musical written and directed by Nestor Torre, “Tsinoy, Kaisa Ka” produced by the Kaisa Foundation. Currently, he plays Huck in a production of the musical “The Fantasticks” by Julie Borromeo and Bernardo Bernardo. He recently composed original acapella arrangements for use as competition pieces for Musikapella, an interhighschool showchoir competition at the PICC.

Former vocalist at DLSU Pops Orchestra – Performed in major concerts held in Meralco Theater among others, more than 20 mall tours, and other concert occasions in and out of the University.
